assignment 3/24

University of Wisconsin System vs Southworth

Three University law students aimed to sue the University for requiring a mandatory activity fee and using the money to support campus groups which they may not agree with. The Law students argument was that it violated their right to free speech by requiring them to help fund campus groups in which they may not agree with their messages/goals.

The supreme court ruled in favor of the University, saying that the range of activities funded were adequate in achieving the Universities goal of being well rounded.

I don't agree with the decision. I believe that a college education is far too expensive as it is, without requiring additional fees which support things that may be offensive or go against a students beliefs.
